NOT QUITE BIKINI...TWO PIECE
Top: Torrid
Bottoms: Jcpenny
Glasses: Forever 21
I went to Vegas last week and I wanted to get a new swim suit. I love Retro Bikini Top from Torrid because it’s perfect for fuller cups and makes it possible for a curvier girl (like me) to wear a two-piece. I only wish it came in brighter colors. I searched high and low on the internet for another top made like this one but I could not find a single one. These sold out so fast at Torrid that I had to drive 45 min to get this one!... Obviously there is a market for a good, supportive, cute, two-piece/bikini's for girls bigger then a size 6. Hopefully next year the industry will catch on and start making more.
Anyways, I wanted to show you ladies how I wore it. I did not purchase the high-waisted bottoms that are supposed to go with it because, on me, they looked like I was wearing a huge diaper :(… It was unfortunate because I was so excited about the whole suit, but the bottoms just did not work for me. So I found these at JcPenny- they have a swim bottom sewn inside and I love that they come up just high enough and are very supportive (there’s that word again) in the belly area.
I have to say that this is such a progression for me to feel comfortable in a swimsuit period. There was a time when I would walk with the swim board hanging over my shoulder so it would cover my legs from the back as I walked to the beach water... SMH. It sounds silly but so many women and girls feel the same way.
I am still looking for a regular bottom the goes up to my waist so if any one has any suggestions please let me know!!

Closet Treasures: Its time to bring them out

GCDFXVM24621987
So I had this black and white dress from H&M and these purple tights for ever (over a year) and I have never ever worn either of them. Then one day I came across this image and thought I would try it out. Here are my pictures below.

Can you guys relate to buying something that you love and having it sit for a year or so before you find the perfect styling to make it work? To my shame I probably have 15-20 items in my closet that fit this description- with tags and all. Its my goal this year to pull these "Closet Treasures"out and spend some time working them into my wardrobe. So stayed tuned for more!

Not Quite Spring: Still Time to Wear a Great Jacket!
I am already gearing up for my spring/summer wardrobe but unfortunately I live in Chicago and it still feels like winter to me. Its really hard to shop for summer when it seems like it will never come. This outfit is something that I picked up from Jcpenny (no longer available on the website, but still in stores) for a steal- I think I paid like $25 for it. I love the way its made and how it fits. Its a thick fabric with a fun leather embellishment on the shoulder. There are so many ways that I can style this jacket- today I wore it with my all time favorite black jeans from Torrid and some cute booties I got from Jcpenny over the fall. Sorry my picture suck I did not have my camera on hand to take a better picture. I am always looking for clothing that can transition from cold to warm weather and I feel like this jacket is a perfect example (see my post from summer to fall here.
(Side Note: don't sleep on JcPenny ladies- they have great sales and clothes and fairly nice quality- its hit and miss on the fit but i have found so really nice things there that I can't wait to share in upcoming posts).

FALL FASHION: WHAT'S YOUR STYLE PLAN?
Fall is here and I am so excited. Does anyone else plan their style out ahead of time for the seasons?? Well I do, and this fall/winter I planned on wearing more tights, boots, skirts, and dresses with layers of sweaters, scarfs. I told my sister this and she laughed and mocked me for having a fall style plan. Her amusement had partly to do with a conversation the day before about shopping and how she (OK we) had came to the conclusion that I had a shopping addiction. The funniest part of our conversation was the contrast between my long, detailed, and full intention on executing plan on fall/winter style and her response to my question- What's your fall/winter style plan- which was and I quote "Fall/winter - try to wear less tanks and maybe use my black and brown boots a bit"
LOL- that shows you guys the distinct difference between me and my sister. But at least I know there are others out there that share my passion. :)
Anyways this is my first fall fit within my "style plan". I realized getting dressed this morning that almost all my black tights have runs or holes in them. I need to find some good comfortable ones so any suggestions are welcomed. I love this dress from Faith 21; its a and thick rich material with a herringbone print, it fits great, is the perfect length, has pockets, and comes with a fun geometric belt that makes the dress a little more edgy. I paired it with a cropped red jacket and booties from Evans. This is a fun versatile dress almost like a twist on the little black dress.
I can't wait to see what every one's fall fashion on my blog roll!

Some Thoughts On Body Love & Fashion

Today I was commenting on a picture I had taken and how I did not like that way I looked, my sister told me that she thought I looked really good in the picture. She has been trying to get in shape and lose some weight, and I told her that she looked good in her picture, and that I could tell that she had lost weight in her stomach.
This was her response "That's funny you say that bc when I see that one of me in the door my eyes go right to my stomach. It looks like im preggo"

So I started thinking about this. I broke down my picture by circling everything in red that I did not like and everything in pink that I did. In the end it looked nuts! WHY! Do we do this to ourselves!!! Why! To reach a standard of perfection that does not exist? Let me tell you I have know the most beautiful woman that do the same thing. They will obsess over a 1/2 inch roll on their belly that you can only see when sit down and bend over, or their slightly large ears, or their less then perfect skin.. whatever!

I admit it OK I do not love my body all the time... there I said it. When I see a picture of myself I break myself apart in 2.5 seconds, and my flaws become magnified over the things that I like. When I did this in Photoshop I realized how ridiculous it was.. I mean really! I actually started to see that I really did like my picture but my brain/eyes would not let myself get past the things I did not like. Too break myself into pieces of body and face and weigh my self esteem and worth on these parts is dehumanizing and crippling. The night I took this picture their were others that I had erased because I really did not like them. After that I felt unattractive while the rest of the night I was thinking about it and looking in the mirror at the club. Again trying to break apart my flaws. I know it sounds nuts and some of you may never have this problem because you are confident in yourself, which is great. But for every one woman that's confident and comfortable with their body there are 10 more who aren't. So I just wanted to share how I feel sometimes.
Fashion helps me to feel more confident. And since I stumbled upon these blogs almost a year ago my confidence has grown and I have stepped outside of my box in terms of fashion and other things for that matter. I have become more comfortable in my skin, therefore becoming more beautiful... Because confidence is beautiful. A woman who loves herself beams and other people cannot help but be drawn to her. So thank you all for sharing your lives and your fashion. I know their are 1000s of women and girls who are reaping the benefits of this.

Evans 20% off Clearance & a Few Thoughts

I have been eyeing these heels since Evans listed them on their site. For some reason they are not very popular. I don't know why though. I watched them go from £59.90 , to £20.00 , down to £10.00 now with 20% off. They are real leather too! Well I could not pass up £8.00 so my broke butt got them. The shipping was almost as much as the shoes!
You ever experienced this? Seen something that catches your eye instantly and no one else seems to think the same as you? And then you put it together with a fabulous outfit and all of a sudden everyone is complementing that item! Apparently it pays off to have creative vision when it comes to clothing... especially when your broke.
I have another question that is somewhat off the subject. Does anyone else besides me have trouble finding nice clothing on Evans' website? I love the clothing when I see pictures of it in the stores, or when Em. X. from "Oh the Places You'll Go" does her dressing room posts. But when I look on the website and see the clothes hanging on that white bald headed shiny white mannequin I get through one page maybe two, and give up and go one to the shoes (what I always purchase from Evans). The clothes look frumpy and outdated to me for some reason. I am not sure if this is because most of the clothing is frumpy and outdated or if its because of that bald headed shiny white mannequin. For the price of their clothing I would think that they would be able to use real models like Torrid or even Faith 21. I am afraid to buy anything from them because I have no idea how it will fit on my body. Just a thought... Is it just me that has this problem?
Anyways below are a few items that I would buy if I had the money. Almost all of the are under £20.00 with an extra 20% off. Ironically, the clothing I chose have human beings as models or just air (LOL).
